NEBRASKA RENAISSANCE FAIRE - Press Release
"Fun & Learning For All Ages"
The 7th annual "NEBRASKA RENAISSANCE FAIRE & Medieval Pageant" will return to the Bellevue Berry/Pumpkin Ranch, where ships and shops are being built in the development of the region's newest event themepark.
The historical festivities take place on May 2nd & 3rd from 11am to 6pm, and will include experiences designed for folks from 2 years old to 95 years young. For seniors it will present an array of living history exhibits and demonstrations; everything from blacksmithing & leather-crafting to rope-making & wood working. For children there will be a special treehouse faerie realm with storytelling, puppet shows and inter-active plays.
The event is also brought to life by it's five stages of entertainment, featuring headline acts from all over the Midwest. The high-light will be the equestrian jousting tournament held three times, each day.
The center-piece of it all will be the 35 artisan merchants and food vendors with beer garden & wine-tasting. The merchant's bazaar offers many unique gift and collector items that can only be found at Renaissance festivals.
The grounds of this merry olde English village will be populated by 250 costumed characters. Some of them will be bringing much music and song to the event. This will include The Banished Misfortunates pub band from Lincoln, the area's celtic music troupe Pog-Mo-Thon, Lincoln's Jennifer Buehler on harp, and a variety of strolling minstrels.
"We make a special effort to ensure that every age group finds something to please them at this festival," brags producer Gregory Schmidt. "We often get families telling us that it's the best time they've had, together, all year."
The Bellevue Berry/Pumpkin Ranch is currently undergoing a transformation thanks to Viet Nam vet Melvin Chamberlain. He has designed and built castles, shops and ships at several other large festivals in Colorado and Oklahoma. He is now in residence at the ranch until the "themepark" is fully developed. See www.BellevueBerryFarm.com for site details and banquet facilities.
Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids from 6 to 14 and free for tots. There will be a two-day pass available for $15. Group rates are also available. Military IDs gain a $2-discount.
The NEBRASKA RENAISSANCE FAIRE will grow to multiple weekends in the future, and is book-ended in October with the Midlands Pirate Festival.
